Carlos Lucas Ribeiro Santo Concrete Branco 2022 Cheap

Description
Carlos Lucas was a former farmer who turned his hand to winemaking over 25 years ago and is now a talented winemaker boasting a wealth of experience from estates throughout Portugal. The Quinta da Ribeiro Santo estate was originally purchased by his father in 1995 and now serves as his home and the base of his winemaking operations.
The Concrete wines are a throwback to winemaking at the beginning of Lucas career, when concrete tanks were the norm across Portugal. Concrete is a superb material for raising wines, as it s slight porosity allows for gentle oxygenation of the wine during ageing, similar to barrels but without imparting any wood flavour.
A blend of Encruzado, Sercial and Malvasia Fina, local varieties that excel in retaining freshness even at high levels of ripeness, fermented with wild yeast before ageing 8 months in concrete with regular stirring of lees to increase complexity and texture.
Sweet spices, piney waxy notes and rich baked apple and orange fruit all soar on a bold and complex nose. Full-bodied and ripe, with savoury toasted notes, peach and guava fruit before a fine seam of acidity gives a lovely dry finish. A superb wine that would pair nicely with food ranging from simple grilled fish to Thai green curry.
